Google News Timeline Searches for Genealogy & Family History

This video is really helpful for when you are looking for information on Google for any kind of old newspaper or magazine articles. The person posting shows how to use the Google News Timeline for searches and how to refine your search for more specific information. Here is the link to the Google News Timeline webpage. I didn't find very much myself using the surnames from my various families, but it is a good tool to be aware of and may become more useful down the line.

The woman in the video uses the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake in her example and at present the site seems to be mostly useful for big events like that, rather than the down and dirty birth, marriage and death information that I look for. It can also help to give you more background information for the big events in your ancestors lives.
